On the reverse side of the American Buffalo Coin is a Native American depiction and the word "Liberty." The Buffalo Coin actually featured three different American Indians while in production. Two of the American Indians were actual models for Fraser when he designed the coins. These Indians were Chief Iron Tail of the Lakota Sioux, and Chief Two Moons of the Cheyenne. The third Native American Indian on the American Buffalo Coin in gold is unknown.
