Beginners may start with mint sets which are coins minted for mass circulation but they are generally “uncirculated”. Mint sets that are government issued usually contain the year’s minted coins, two of each denomination from 1947 to 1958. These are well-preserved and kept in cardboard containers which prevent them from tarnishing.
Now, they are packaged in plastic envelopes and sealed. There are also mint sets which are privately sold but the value of these depends on the individual coins in the set.
Commemorative mint coin sets are popular items that collectors usually have. Others chose mint sets that have limited mintage. The rarer they are the better. These types of mint sets can have its value rapidly increasing in a few years or so.
However, some of them also have the potential to be worthless so you have to do your research to determine which mint sets are good to invest in. If, however, you are a collector that enjoys the sheer pleasure of collecting them rather than for monetary gain, then this wouldn’t matter to you.
