Novelty coins are manufactured from genuine U.S coins and are usually used by magicians or illusionists. Novelty coins are not necessarily worthless, especially because metalworking skills are also required in their production. A two-headed coin is an example of a novelty coin which is made by altering two coins and bonding the pieces together. You may be able to clearly see a seam around the edge.
As the name suggests, replicas are made by copying or reproducing genuine U.S coins. Replicas look almost just as good as the real ones and make good gifts, or can be a part of a collection if one cannot really afford to buy authentic coins.
