The Martha Washington First Spouse Gold Coin was the first release of the series honoring the President’s spouses. The coins were released by the United States Mint on June 19, 2007.
The obverse of the coin portrays Martha Washington and the obverse features “Martha Washington”, “In God We Trust” inscription and the date and mintmark “2007 W”. The obverse was designed and sculpted by Joseph Menna. Martha Washington served as First Lady from 1789 to 1797 during the Presidency of her husband George Washington.
