Thomas Jefferson First Spouse Gold Coin Auctions
The Thomas Jefferson’s Liberty First Spouse Gold Coin was the 3rd release of the coin series honoring the President’s spouses. The coins were released on August 30, 2007.
The obverse of the coin portrays the image of Liberty which was originally used on the Draped Bust Half Cent coin. The only reason of this image was used on this 3rd release is because Thomas Jefferson did not have a spouse while serving as President.
The obverse bears “Liberty”, “In God We Trust ~ 2007″, “3rd Presidency”, inscriptions, the dates of the Presidential term “1801-1809″, and the mint mark “W”. The obverse was resculpted by Phebe Hemphill but it was originally designed by Robert Scot.
